Remington Outdoor Company has announced that several plants are being consolidated into Remingtons new facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Of particular interest is that Remingtons R1 1911 handgun production will be leaving the town of Ilion, New York, along with Bushmaster AR-15 production – both products are effectively banned by New Yorks stringent new gun laws.

Among the facilities being relocated to Huntsville are: Advanced Armament Corp of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Bushmaster (AR-15) production from Ilion, New York; DPMS of St. Cloud, Minnesota; LAR Manufacturing of West Jordan, Utah; Montana Rifleman in Kalispell, Montana; PARA USA of Pineville, North Carolina; Remington R1 (1911) production from Ilion, New York, and TAPCO of Kennesaw, Georgia. Earlier this year, Remington opened a new 500,000-square-foot plant in Huntsville.

Remingtons Director of Public Affairs and Relations Teddy Novin said, This was a strategic business decision to concentrate our resources into fewer locations and improve manufacturing efficiency and quality.

FNH USA Cuts Prices onFNS Pistols
FNH USA is cutting the manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP) of its black FNS pistols by $100. The FNS series of striker-fired pistols includes the FNS-9, FNS-9 Longslide (pictured above, left), the FNS-40 (pictured above, right) and the FNS-40 Longslide. Each features an ergonomic frame design and comes with two interchangeable backstraps. A MIL-STD 1913 underframe rail is standard for light attachment.

We are pleased that the FNS line has been so popular, said Mark Cherpes, president and CEO of FNH USA. Because our sales volume was so high in 2013, we were able to reduce our production costs enough to realize a savings we are now passing down to our customers. We hope consumers will take advantage of this new, lower price and choose an FNS when they are shopping for a new pistol.

Made at FN Manufacturing in Columbia, South Carolina, standard features on the FNS include a hammer-forged stainless-steel barrel, a forged stainless-steel slide with front and rear cocking serrations, a full-length stainless-steel recoil-spring guide rod, and low-profile Deep-V three-dot night sights.
