BATFE Pushes New 4473 Date to January 15, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is pushing back the date by which the revised and updated Form 4473 must be used. The extended deadline is January 15, 2009, (rather than November 15, 2008), because of objections from dealers about implementing a new form during hunting season.

Well.....Here we go again! A new 4473 is being
introduced, just when we were getting around to remembering how to complete the current form. I'd guess that this is just another ploy by BATFE to "keep the gunners of balance".
As many of you may have seen in my comments regarding other issues in this forum, the Form
4473 is the result of the Gun Control Act of
1968, GCA 68 was, and is, one of the most onerous.....and useless.....pieces of legislation with which we have ever had to deal. It is inspired by the Nazi Nuremburg Laws that were used as a means to subjugate the German population.....especially Jews.
Complain though we may, GCA 68 will never go away. That's the problem with bad laws. Once they are enacted, they stay on permanently. Very few have been rescinded. I'd think that one of the few that ever got overturned was the Volstead Act (Prohibition). Even the Supreme Court's affirmation of the Second Amendment, as an individual right, has not had as much positive effect as we had hoped. But, we can still dream, hope, and fight the good fight in favor of our Constitutional rights.
