Louisville, KY–Remington has announced it will build a 243/308/7mm-08 version of its R-15 VTR rifle introduced in Jan. 2008. The new gun is the Model R-25, a modular repeating rifle designed for big game hunters. The Model R-25 is available in 243 Win., 7mm-08 Remington and 308 Win. The new R-25 modular repeating rifle incorporates many advanced design aspects of AR-10 308 Win.-style rifles. The R-25 features a precision-crafted 20-inch barrel with recessed hunting crown that’s free-floated within a machined-aluminum fore-end tube. Six longitudinal flutes forward of the gas block provide weight reduction while promoting rapid barrel cooling.

The upper and lower are machined from aluminum forgings and coated with Mossy Oak Treestand camouflage pattern. Each rifle is provided with a four-round magazine and is compatible with all aftermarket AR-308 Win. type magazines and accessories.

The barrel is a button-rifled 0.680″ muzzle OD carbon steel unit. The single-stage hunting trigger is factory set to 4.5-5lbs. There’s a receiver-length Picatinny rail for adding optics and accessories, an ergonomic pistol grip, front and rear sling swivel studs, and a lockable hard case.

The model numbers are 60030 for the 243 Win., 60031 for the 7mm-08 Remington, and 60032 for the 308 Win.. Overall length is 39 3/4 inches and average weight is 8 3/4 lbs. Stock is an A-2 Zytel synthetic. Suggested retail is $1532.
