Armed Protests Jeopardize the President, Public

NEW YORK CITY (Aug 18, 2009)--According to a number of press reports, about a dozen people carrying guns, including one with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle slung over his shoulder, stood among protesters outside a convention center in Arizona where President Barack Obama was giving a speech Aug. 17.

This appears to be the latest incident in which protesters have openly displayed firearms near the president. In Arizona and several other states, it happens to be legal for people to purchase and carry these types of weapons without a permit.

Gun-rights advocates say they are exercising their constitutional right to bear arms and protest; others who argue for more gun control say it could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Bernie is doing what he and others like him are hired to do, that is to sensationalize this and every instance that they can along with their buddies in the press, to lay the ground work and excuse for taking away our 2nd amendment rights.

Well...an armed AMERICAN citizenry has and always will be around a president of these United States. What do they (the pin headed media)think all those guys with the ear plugs, dark glasses and automatic hardware are? Canadians??!! In the "old days" presidents preferred to have a bunch of happy ass gun toters around them, on the payrole or not. The law abiding folks that showed up that were open carring were not going to do any harm to our pres, or anyone else for that matter. I'm damned proud of those that showed up and stood up to make a statement and support our 2nd amendment rights!

Good call Gaviota. Nothing like getting shot in the ass by "unfriendly fire" because they are NOT on our side in this 2nd Amendment fight. They are willing to follow us around ,waiting for mistakes that the press can sensationalize to prove their case.Homeland Security is a joke. Security for whom?.Semper Fi

Ah, yes. The famous Rules of Combat. I never forget this one, either: "If you get too far forward of your assigned position, you will be shot in the ass by your own side." Sort of relevant to this discussion, isn't it?

I might say to those attendees being pointedly conspicuous in demonstration of Arizona's recognition of RKBA non-impingement: "Do not draw enemy fire. It annoys those near you."
IMHO they are not making a good case for responsible firearm ownership.

Bernie sez: "I’m all for the Second Amendment and our right to bear arms, BUT..."

BUT not in New York City, BUT not in Washington DC, BUT not in Chicago, BUT not in San Francisco. BUT not at public assemblies, BUT not in national, state, or city parks, BUT not in legislatures, BUT not in city councils, BUT not in government offices, BUT not in hospitals, BUT not in schools, BUT not in state fairs. BUT not anywhere that it might spook a herbivore.

Bernie sez: "I like big BUTS , and I cannot lie!"

Bernie sez: "Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano should ensure that the president is protected AT ALL COST . . . and if that includes stepping on some protester’s toes, SO BE IT.

...ensure that the president is protected AT ALL COST... Ah, yes. A matter of "Homeland Security." The age-old cry of the oppressor.

If it means illegally arresting citizens who have committed no crime, SO BE IT. If it means creating and enforcing illegal and unconstitutional rules, ordinances, restrictions, and regulations, SO BE IT. If it means ignoring the law, SO BE IT. If it means crushing protests with automatic weapons fire, SO BE IT. At all cost, remember? Why bother to do all that fiddly little detail police work when you can just shoot your way out of a crowd of law-abiding citizens who want to ask questions?

Didn't enough people die at the hands of their "public servants" in the 20th century? Why do we have to start down this road again?

The last guy I want on my side is a crook like Mr. Kerik, and I would not take anything he says as having any credibility. I wouldn't back him up in a water ballon contesr, and I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

Define disaster.

on the surface this looks like a disaster waiting to happen but when you look deeper at it i believe those people were well within their right to do what their state legislature said they could do as well as the constitution of this great country. if obama and the gungrabbers don't like it stay the hell out of arizona and peoples lifes and they won't have to worry. the trouble is the news media jumps on this stuff and beats it into the ground. the majority of the people get their news and current events from the media so they are gullable enought to believe whatever they are told as being gospel. the fact is an armed society is a polite society.
