Gun Report

Smith & Wesson Model 317-3 Kit Gun 22 LR

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The 317-3 Kit Gun had a good trigger and grip size. We thought the front sight was easy to see and was fine for informal plinking, but not for more-detailed precision shooting.

We did not feel much stacking with the S&W, but it did have a heavy 15-pound double-action pull which was not that user friendly.
This petite J-frame had a nice grip that made the 317-3 feel substantial without being bulky.
S&W did a lot to reduce the weight in the 317-3, such as the groove in the trigger guard.
