GUN TESTS GRADE: A (OUR PICK)
The SSG 08 is a precision instrument with features that make it easy to shoot, like the fully adjustable stock. This is still a lot of money, but the Steyr is a lot of gun.

The Steyr’s stock was fully adjustable. The stock also folded to the left side of the rifle to reduce the carry dimensions. We liked the buttstock monopod (arrow), which helped steady the rifle. It could be dialed to fine-tune the rifle position. A rubber buttpad gave good adhesion and helped reduce felt recoil.
Compared to the other rifles, the SSG 08’s Picatinny rail was short and offered less room to mount optics.
Two-position magazines allow the user to keep the magazine in the magazine well but not allow a round to be chambered.
