Gun Report

Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

There was a lot to recommend this gun: An an OAL of 5.9 inches, 12.7-ounce weight, 1-inch wide across the slide-all of which allowed the PF-9 to easily fit in a pants pocket. But the trigger function led to malfunctions for our testers, and in a self-defense gun, that is a fatal flaw, in our view.

Here's where the Kel-Tec earns its money. The PF-9 is sitting in the foreground, flanked by the larger CZ 2075 Rami P and the Heckler & Koch P7 in the rear. The end of the P7's slide is clearly outside the form edge of the smaller Kel-Tec. Clearly, that part of the gun is done right, because its slim profile can be slipped into a briefcase, purse, or slacks with minimal worries about printing.
