Gun Report

Charter Arms Bulldog Pug .44 Special

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

We thought the Bulldog Pug was a worthy revolver, excellent for self defense if not ideal for the trail. It was very comfortable, reliable, and worked well in the DA mode. Its accuracy was not up to the others, but neither was its weight or price.

The five-shot cylinder of the Pug held far more potent rounds than any .38 and many .357s, and the gun could easily handle them. The Pug was a handful, but recoil was manageable, we thought.
Be sure your Pug shows this gap with the cylinder closed. Ours needed some easy deburring before the cylinder pin went fully home.
