We didn’t like the high price, and the stainless version is even more costly. That, and the possibility of the cartridge dying off made us think mighty hard about this one.

We had just removed the test scope from the Savage and locked the rear ring onto the A-Bolt. Look how much farther forward the front scope ring (upper arrow) was placed, to mount our Leupold 12X on the long Savage action. The lower arrow points to the front Weaver base on the A-Bolt. We had to move the front ring back that far. This can never be as strong a setup, a limitation of short actions.
We thought this chrome-like polish on the outside of the rifle had no place on a serious hunting rifle. It shined like a mirror, as did the gold trigger.
