The 2006 subcompact XD does a better job of carrying over superior ergonomics from the full-size models. Plenty of power here, and the adaptation of full-size magazines to the short frame haven't affected reliability.

Oversize magazines that create a full-size grip on smaller pistols have traditionally been shunned by manufacturers. Springfield Armory had enough faith in the reliability of the XD subcompact to offer one as optional equipment. Our XD40 SC HC (subcompact high capacity) pistol ran 100% with this 12-round magazine in place.
The package offering of our XD included a dual magazine pouch with accessory rail on each side. Also included is a belt slide holster.
