Without the decocker mechanism, the Variant 9 has fewer moving parts, but this gun will still fire double action. However, this meant manually lowering the hammer. A larger hammer was added to make it easier to control.
The safety lever or safety lever/decocker combination lever can be easily changed to the right side. Combined with the ambidextrous magazine release, left-handed shooters should feel right at home with one of 10 variations of the Universal Self Loading Pistol.
