The same lever that acts as a slide catch also operates the safety when rotated below the ejection port. Finish was adequate, but we found the grip and parts of the forend to be loose or wobbly. We had no complaints about operation, however. The bolt and feed ramp appeared to be first rate.
The AK22's front-sight post was the easiest to find on all our weapons. The circle surrounding it was more effective in protecting the post than providing additional index.
The rear sight unit was not pretty, but it did produce what we thought was the easiest picture to track.
