Gun Report

Ruger New Vaquero NV-455 NO. 5101 .45 LC

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

Looking very much like an old Colt, the new Ruger was very pleasing to our eyes and hands, until it developed a slight flaw that we're sure Ruger will put right. Until they do, we had to downgrade our recommendation. We liked this gun a lot. We think it'll take hot loads and lots of abuse over time.

Most wonderful news is the New Vaquero is easy to load and unload. Empties are centered in the ejection port with reverse thumb pressure against a stop, as here. This was a welcome revelation for Ruger single-action shooters.
