Gun Report

Briley Sporter .17 HMR

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

Sporting a colorful stock that we'd love to have on a hunting rifle, the good looks of the Briley Sporter belie its problematic guts. Many rounds failed to fire due, we believe, to insufficient spring force on the hammer. This ought to be a simple fix, and may also have resulted in mediocre accuracy results from this well-made rifle.

That rod in front of the trigger guard let us change magazines quickly. Just pinch with thumb and forefinger, and the magazine came out.
