Remington Springfield 03A3 .30-06

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The classic, clean lines of the Springfield have always looked good to riflemen. This one shot extremely well with its replacement barrel, though the barrel didnít look great. The trigger was also good, and the rifle shot where it looked. One could learn a lot about shooting with this old warhorse.

The Springfieldís bolt had its classic knob for recocking, though we doubt if anyone ever used it. We preferred the milled trigger guard, but this 03A3ís sheet-metal one worked well. The action was extremly slick and totally reliable.
That big, thin blade looks mighty lonesome and unprotected, up in the breeze like that. Sight-blade inserts came in five heights to get correct matching of ammo to sights. We filed the top square, arrow, and improved groups immensely.
