CZ ZOM 451 .22 LR

Beautiful walnut graces the CZ ZOM 451. If you can get by the odd-shaped protruding magazine and European styling, the CZ is one heck of a fine value in a .22 rimfire, we thought. It had looks, performance, and a slick straight pull bolt that worked well. Though it may need some trigger adjustments, this was a lot of rifle for the money.

The safety was a knob or wing that moved inward (left) for On. Pulled outward (right), it permitted removal of the bolt. Check out the nice wood grain.
The trigger guard was stamped sheet metal with a rough edge, but it worked. The bolt mechanism was curious, but worked well. The 7-round magazine was easy to load.
Left: Flat-top checkering showed the wood's quality well and gave a secure grasp on the rifle.
Here's the external portion of the straight-pull CZ bolt. The safety is in the fire position, with the red dot visible (arrow).
