Albanian SKS 7.62x39mm

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

Simple and efficient, the SKS is now well known to U.S. shooters. This Albanian version had an odd-looking magazine that held 11 shots down. Note also the long stock and hand-guard wood, extending almost to the beginning of the gas tube. All the numbers matched, and the wood was attractive if a bit dinged up.

The wood had some attractive grain, and an acceptable finish.

Here we see some of the nicks and dings in the stock, but we thought they were not enough to make this rifle any less fun for shooters or collectors. Note the ladder sight.
The right side shows a few more gouges. The SKS’s lines are stark but efficient. The take- down lever for the gas tubes is visible at the front of the rear- sight base.
