Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The BAR has been around for a long time and all the little cosmetics things like controls, sights, magazines, etc. have been worked out. Its consistent materials performance and lightweight stock make it a very good field rifle at a reasonable price.

The BAR's controls are all in reach; the safety, gold-accented trigger, and mag release worked flawlessly. The Browning's time-proven hooded front sight was clearly visible but easily removed if the shooter desired.
The BAR magazine was foolproof and stayed connected, preventing loss in the field.
Seen as ridges behind the chamber, BAR's barrel also connects with its bolt via multiple lugs. The bolt release is on the right side.
The BAR's removable rear sight was fully adjustable and provided an excellent sight picture.
