Not inexpensive, this new version of the old warhorse will appeal to many veterans and new shooters as well. We liked its finish, fit, and the lanyard loop. We loved its accuracy. It shot very close to its sights, and drilled small clusters of big holes.

The muzzle of an old 1917 .45 ACP, left, had its front sight blade integral with the barrel. The new version, right, had it pinned in. The new one was a lot wider, which provided a much improved sight picture, in our view. The old gun may need crown work.
