This pistol's tang didn't prevent the slide from biting the web of the shooter's hand. The double-action-only trigger pull was very heavy.

AMT DAO Back Up: Taking down this pistol isn’t difficult, but a small punch is needed. First, remove the magazine and empty the chamber. Pull the slide to the rear until the cutout in the left side of the slide and the head of the takedown pin are aligned. Next, push the takedown pin out from the right to the left with a small punch. Once the pin is removed, let the slide assembly go forward and off the front of the frame. Slightly compress the non-captive recoil assembly, then remove it from the slide. Lastly, remove the barrel from the slide. To reassemble, accomplish these steps in reverse order.
The AMT DAO Back Up’s only control was a spring-loaded magazine catch on the heel of the butt. It was ambidextrous and worked well.
