When we shot the gun in the rest, its rearward pitch was so violent it resonated the concrete-filled support table. This abuse manifested itself later during testing, when the gun's hammer would not fall. Since we did not know what was keeping the hammer back on a loaded chamber, we assumed there was no way of knowing why or when it would fall. We used a Velcro tie to secure the hammer back by lashing it in front of the hammer, then underneath the grip just behind the trigger guard. We eventually made the gun safe by prying loose the mainspring and removing it.
