HÄmmerli 208S .22 LR

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

Though it's horrendously expensive, we have to give the 208S a Conditional Buy. It's not going to be made much longer, and it represents perhaps the highest state of conventional pistol art and craftsmanship. These are already collector's items, though for the wellheeled only. We expect them to increase in value over time, and they’re outstanding pistols.

The rear sight is frame-mounted, which gives best performance. This is a major requirement for a target pistol, and it's the main difference -- other than price -- between the 208 S and the Trailside. The click stops were positive, and the graphic showed which way to turn them to move bullet impact.
The walnut grip was stippled and extremely comfortable. This is the best of Swiss workmanship, and a conservative design by today’s target pistol standards, with its grip mounted magazine.
With the muzzle weight installed, the 208 S gives an imposing impression. This pistol is very similar to the SIG Trailside.
