Gun Tests grade: B+. The lightest of the tested rifles, the CZ’s excellent accuracy and single set-trigger combine to offer special appeal. Not quite as accurate as the Savage, nor the great value it once was, we cannot help but give this “Mini-Mauser” a ‘Buy it’ rating.

One of the considerations with the CZ is the long bolt travel, offering very little scope clearance and necessitating high rings for several scopes.
The CZ “Micro-Mauser” action featured a single set trigger, an addition our shooters loved. The safety is noisy compared to the Savage, requiring the shooter to pull it back rather than forward to release it.
Our rapid five-shot firing with American Eagle bulk ammo put four of the five quick shots in breezy range conditions well inside 0.9 inches center-to-center.
The CZ’s magazine held five rounds, but during our testing, we had feeding problems when we loaded a full complement in the clip. But filled with four cartridges, it worked just fine.
