That odd-looking stuff where you’d expect checkering (bottom arrow) was a soft, rubbery-feeling compound that gave excellent traction. The pistol grip had a slight palm swell on the right side. Those scope rings (top arrow) are the Sako Optilock system, which worked well. The bolt turned through about 60 degrees. It had three locking lugs, and was smooth in its operation. The Sako had an excellent adjustable trigger. With its stylistic stock and nearly white metalwork, the Sako was striking. Our shoulders also thought the light, hard-kicking, poorly padded Sako was quite striking indeed.
