The On Duty was capable of single-action fire while offering minimal exposure of the hammer tang. This was a tradeoff with shielding the inner mechanism from foreign objects and the possibility of snagging an outer garment. The On Duty’s cylinder release was tucked out of the way but required precise movement for smooth operation.
The front sight was smooth, and this promoted glare. Its color so closely matched the rear sight notch that we had difficulty finding a sight picture.
Rounding the edge of the trigger would provide much greater comfort to the shooter.
