The Kimber LPT was topped with a one-piece scope mount that covered the entire breech. Well matched in terms of height and length, its inner contour aided in feeding rounds and dispersing spent shells.
The LPT stock on our 2009 model favored the right-handed shooter with a useful palm swell and high wall comb.
Hidden in the tasteful knurled pattern were the letters “LPT,” which stand for Light Police Rifle. The fluted barrel with sporter profile contributed to its balance and maneuverability.
The bolt had a moderately long throw, but the huge bolt handle gave us plenty of leverage, enough to make it fun. A three-position safety was mounted on the right side. Swept fully to the rear, it locked both the trigger and the bolt. The intermediate position prevented the trigger from moving but allowed the bolt to be manipulated.
