We liked the Mosquito’s ergonomics and solid build quality, although not its heavy trigger and sporadic ejection problems. But it was firing out of battery that caused the gun to flunk our testing.

This was the round that brought an end to the Mosquito’s day, detonating prematurely before chambering. No one was injured, and the gun remained functional. A Sig spokesman said that some of the rimfires are chambered with match-spec dimensions, which might explain the malfunctions.
The Mosquito featured an ambidextrous lever safety (top), slide catch (bottom right), and decocking lever.
