GUN TESTS GRADE: A & C
If you're looking for the full-size AR-15 feel, then the 522 isn't the place to come - thus the C grade. But the 522 isn't built to mimic the AR; it's SIG's downsized 556 model, which, like this rimfire, competes with the AR's design. If you simply want a tactical 22 LR that shoots like a house afire, then we enthusiastically recommend the 522 and rank it alongside the M&P15-22.

The ambi safety is on Safe here. The trigger is locked in this position. We had no trouble loading and unloading the gun, but we found the magazine spring itself to be stiff.
One of the cool things available for the 522, and not for the Colt or S&W guns, is an aftermarket 50-round drum magazine made by Black Dog Machine.
This is the folded size of the 522. Very handy for point shooting. The stock telescopes about an inch and a half.
