All sorts of trouble plagued the Romanian-made gun. Rounds caught on the ramp, locking the action open. The charging handle got stuck, and sharp edges gouged our fingers. The gun also began doubling, a malfunction that we’re not going to mess around with.

These rounds came out of the Century Arms pretty dinged up. The arrows point to a variety of insults the action delivered to the cases.
One of the tenets of the AK platform is that they’ll run dirty, cold, untended, and generally in crappy condition. Our Century AK was an aberration, then, because we had feeding problems with all of our ammo/magazine combinations and it doubled.
In normal use, we broke the hinge on the Tapco folding stock. Here’s the exposed spring showing through the sheared bracket.
