The plastic AR-15 shell covered what was otherwise known as Mossberg’s 702 Plinkster. The magazine release (arrow) was an odd adaptation, in our view. Otherwise, the 715T proved itself to be a worthy product
The rudimentary A2 rear sight worked surprisingly well with the static front sight. The faux molded charge bar (arrow) meant that loading was one aspect of the AR-15 manual of arms that you would not learn from the 715T. But the Mossberg 15T was accurate and reliable, making it an excellent training device for sight acquisition, trigger control, and positional techniques specific to the AR-15 platform. It was a lot of fun for a very low price.
Like much of the Mossberg 715T’s AR-15 bodywork, the front sight was a molded mockup of the original part. Static and without the possibility of adjustment, it was nevertheless clearly defined and easy to use.
