The fancy stock was a pleasure to shoulder. We liked the trigger, the magazine, and its smooth-cycling bolt.

The magazine release consisted of a sliding lever located above the trigger (top arrow). It was protected from release by the graceful relief in the stock. The magazine was comfortable to load and held 10 rounds. A crossbolt safety was located in the upper rear corner of the trigger guard (arrow).
The buttstock offered a sizeable pad, saddle-like comb, and a pistol grip that allowed for a full wrap around grip. Remington calls the color of this laminate stock Shady Camo.
All three of our rifles were capable of outstanding accuracy. Ten-shot groups fired from support were produced by (left to right) the Remington 597 TVP, CZ USA 512, and the Sav- age Arms TR SR V rifles. The ammunition used is shown immediately behind their respective targets. Test distance was 50 yards.
