Kimber Pro Custom Defense Package (CDP) II 45 ACP

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The Kimber is the lightest pistol tested and the only aluminum frame pistol in this match up. The 4-inch barrel gave up little in velocity, and the Kimber was actually the most accurate pistol tested. We also liked its ambidextrous safety.

Although this Kimber has fired well over 7,000 rounds, it was reliable, smooth in operation, and the most accurate pistol tested. We also gauged it to be easily the most attractive pistol as well.
This rater took a few magazines to groove into the recoil of the lightweight 45. Note the spent case in the air. The primary impediment to owning the Kimber is the price — but the money is well spent.
Attention to detail with superbly executed checkering even under the trigger guard is what makes the Kimber a superior handgun.
The Kimber is the only pistol tested with a bushingless lockup. It was also the most accurate. Accuracy and reliability were never in question.
Set in this dovetail, the Kimber front post isn’t going anywhere.
The sight vials and rear blade contain illuminating tritium gas for nighttime or low-light use.
