Colt Defender 07000D 45 ACP

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The Defender is a great little 1911, reliable and more accurate than expected. One of our raters remarked that the pistol is as accurate as his personal Colt Commander, a larger and heavier piece. While the Springfield was outmatched due to the Defenderís superior sights and trigger action, you do pay a lot more for these features. The Defender also outperformed the Glock by a wide margin, our team said.

The Defender as issued gave good results. Once we fitted a set of Ahrends grips to the Defender, left, we felt better about control, and the looks are also much better, in our opinion.
This is a Badger Backup holster from Rhome DesBiens. This is a fine choice for the compact 45.
A slight disadvantage of an aluminum frame is that they are easier to damage than a steel frame. Do not allow the slide stop to snap into place after reassembly, but rather baby the frame when disassembling aluminum-frame 1911s.
