Note that the chambers are chamfered for ease in loading and are cut out for a moonclip.
This triple-checked, unloaded handgun is shown to illustrate handfit, thus the shooter's finger is on the trigger. The grip of 627 was small and well suited for concealed carry; most shooters tucked their small fingers under the butt.
The V-shaped groove in the 627's frame is what the ball detent locks into.
