Gun Report

Action Arms/ITM AT-84S 9mm Luger, $450 used

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The AT-84 is as desirable as any other CZ 75 of the era, and the excellent sights make it a fine shooter. However, for a few more bucks, you get a better pistol with the modern CZ 75, which is tighter, more accurate, and is easier to get parts for. Just the same, the AT-84 is a good handgun to buy if you find a used one in good condition.

The AT-84 is a handsome and capable handgun. Like most other CZ clones, the AT-84 allows cocked-and-locked carry. Fired off hand, the AT-84 produced good results.
A previous owner had painted the front sight white. We liked it and left it alone.
To field-strip the AT-84, start with the magazine removed and the chamber empty. Cock the hammer, and move the slide back until the stamped dots on the lower edge of the slide and upper rear edge of the frame align. With the slide held in that position, push on the right tip of the slide-latch cross-shaft, and remove the latch toward the left. Pull the trigger, and gently lower the hammer. Remove the slide and barrel toward the front.
