The barrel of the $399 Thompson Center Compass rifle was threaded and capped, making it a more versatile rifle. The checkered thread cap fit securely, but was removable by hand.
Two distinct detent points are visible on the stalk of the safety lever, producing click positions for safe-on, bolt locked; safe-on bolt free; and fire. The tactical styled bolt knob accented an otherwise plain black rifle.
The stock was black composite with only minor molded-in ridges to aid grip. Also, the butt has a traditional-style cheekpiece for right-handed shooters and a 0.75-inch-thick rubber recoil pad. Dual sling swivel studs complete the package.
The bedding system inside the Compass' barebones composite stock are dual aluminum pillars and a secured steel recoil lug.
