Springfield Armory Range Officer Operator PI9131L 45 ACP $873

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

The Springfield Range Officer Operator exhibited good fit and finish. The Match Grade barrel lived up to its name. The Range Officer Operator is the most accurate pistol tested, but the pistol was only incrementally more accurate than the Rock Island Tactical pistol. Feed reliability was faultless.

Forward cocking serrations and a fiber-optic front sight are advantages found on the Springfield.
That's a flared and lowered ejection port the arrow is pointing to, perhaps one of the reasons the Operator ran without a hitch. But the downside of this view is the lack of an ambi safety, which lefties and weak hand righty shooters might want.
The barrel bushing has a tight fit, but most shooters can manipulate the parts with their fingers for tool-less breakdown.
The Springfield uses the now standard rail that is compatible with rail gun holsters.
