(GunReports.com) — A recent sales effort from SureFire suggests that the problem of magazine shortages has eased — so much so that the company is trying sell $199 100-round premium magazines.

A marketing piece from the company reads, “We’ve worked around the clock in 2013 to keep up with unprecedented demand for our SureFire High-Capacity Magazines — especially our top-selling 60-rounders. We’ve expanded our US-based facilities, and are now aggressively shipping 100-round mags.”

The SureFire high-capacity magazine for 5.56×45 mm (.223 Remington) ammunition is compatible with M4/M16/AR-15 variants and other firearms that accept standard STANAG 4179 magazines. Constructed from Mil-Spec hard-anodized aluminum, they have non-binding cadmium-coated coil springs and polymer followers. They require no lubricants and can be disassembled without tools for cleaning.

The MAG5-100 unit sells for $199. Those magazines are 12.2 inches long, 1.66 inches wide, weigh 9.6 ounces empty, and tip the scales at 3.3 pounds when loaded.

SureFire says its high-capacity magazines provide increased initial firepower in ambush situations; require fewer reloads overall, offer fast and easy magazine insertion, even with a closed bolt, and have less bulk compared to drum mags, enabling a normal weapon grip. The following video shows them in action.
