(GunReports.com) — The newest 1911 offering from Magnum Research — the $946 MSRP DE1911U Undercover model — addresses consumer demand for smaller ultra-light concealed carry firearms chambered in .45 ACP. The DE1911U is slated to ship beginning in January 2014.

The new Undercover DE1911U has a 3-inch bull barrel housed in a lightweight frame made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy. A 4140 high-carbon-steel slide sits atop the frame, and like other 1911s in the company’s line, this model is a Series 70 configuration.

The .45 ACP DE1911U has 6+1 round capacity, an overall length of 6.85 inches, height of 5 inches, and and a dry weight of 25.8 oz. The DE1911U has a high-rise beavertail safety, skeleton hammer, an aluminum trigger, and an 11-degree muzzle crown.

Standard features include a fully adjustable rear sight, checkered front and back strap, double-diamond-checkered wood grip, and stainless steel hex screws. It comes standard with two 6-round magazines.
