Safety Notice: Some Taurus GX4 Pistols May Discharge When Dropped

Some Taurus GX4 pistols assembled and sold only in the United States may, under certain circumstances, discharge when dropped, the company has announced.

The company advised GX4 owners to “Safely unload and stop using your GX4 IMMEDIATELY. Failure to observe this warning may result in injury or death to you or others.”

To see if your GX4 was affected, Taurus asked shooters to enter their pistol’s serial number on the website GX4safetynotice.com.

The website would promptly let you know whether your GX4 is subject to the safety notice. The serial number is located on the rear of the pistol.

You may also contact Taurus:

If you no longer have this pistol, the company asked shooters to please forward this notice to the current owner.

The Taurus notice said the company will inspect, repair, if necessary, and return your pistol to you as soon as possible, FREE of charge.

A Taurus statement said, “We understand that this is an inconvenience for you. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.” The company has said that turnaround time is approximately four weeks.

Previous Gun Tests issues that have reviewed the GX4 line include September 2023 and September 2021. In neither case did we experience unsafe function issues.
