New Orleans mayor appeals to legislature

FinalCall.com is reporting that New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin kicked off a series of closed-door sessions in Baton Rouge to encourage state legislators, in part, to curb access to what he called “assault weapons.”

Banning assault weapons is one of his legislative priorities for sessions that began April 2 and could last until late June.

Nagin was sued in federal court for confiscating guns after Hurricane Katrina. He was eventually ordered to return all the confiscated guns.

Hey Ray, try putting the criminals in jail and keep them there. Quit blaming the legally obtained assault weapons for your crime problem, it sounds as ridiculous as you blaming Bush for the hurricane. Start taking responsibility for your city.

Nagin and the rest of the morons in Louisana and New Orleans who voted for him (actually in the rest of the United States, as anyone who claimed to be from New Orleans was allowed to vote) know exactly what they are doing. They are attempting to keep themselves in power by dis-empowering the good people, and allowing the criminals (like Nagin) to have the upper hand. I mean.. what could Nagin claim to do, if crime was eliminated in New Orleans... and who would vote for him if criminals and welfare recepients actually no longer existed.

It's astounding that Ray Nagin was re-elected.
It scares me to death that the people that elected Nagin will probably be voting in the national election.
We can only hope the silent majority lends some sanity to our upcoming elections.
