NATIONAL AMMO DAY. A grass-roots activist who coined the idea for National Ammo Day says hes hopeful about the results of what he calls a BUYcott.

Kim du Tuit is a self-employed database management consultant living near Dallas, and he had the idea that hunters and shooters nationwide should pick up an extra 100 rounds of ammunition last month on November 19. He says he had nothing to gain from the idea, except that he wanted to send a message to people trying to infringe on his rights by encouraging an increase in the sales of ammunition on that day.

On his website, Mr. Du Tuit wrote, There are an estimated 75 million gun owners in the United States of America. If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, thats 7.5 billion rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens! Let the politicians, the gun-grabbers, and the international community know that America is proud of its Right to Bear Arms and we will not be disarmed.

The gun/ammunition manufacturers have been taking the brunt of all the frivolous lawsuits brought by the gun-grabbers. These gun-grabbers are trying to put these folks out of business. Well, not if we can help it!

The originators of National Ammo Day are maintaining the sales records (provided optionally and voluntarily by ammunition sellers) of the ammunition sold on November 19 and will make this information known to the newspapers, the new services, and politicians locally and nationally. The goal of National Ammo Day was to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens, du Tuit said.

To find out the results of the National Ammo Day, visit du Tuits Web site (www.ammoday.com) and learn the number of bullets and pounds of powder sold at retail that day.

TRAILBLAZER ADVENTURE PROGRAM. The U.S. Sportsmens Alliance has developed and begun rolling out its new Trailblazer Adventure Program, designed to introduce Boy Scouts and parents to the outdoors with a one-day familiarization and year-long mentoring program.

So far this year, we have held five events and are very pleased with the participation, said Doug Jeanneret, U.S. Sportsmens Alliance director of communications and Trailblazer Coordinator. This program has the potential to reach tens of thousands of Scouts and their families this year and is expected to grow to over 100,000 families annually.

Two events held in Atlanta and Louisville each drew more than 1,100 scouts and their parents. For more information on the program, contact Doug Jeanneret at djeanneret@ussportsmen.org or (614) 888-4868.
