The trigger pivots and breaks at about 3 pounds.
The beavertail offered plenty of protection against hammer bite. Even though the front strap is smooth, it was easy to handle the Coonan during recoil. In hand, the Coonan felt slightly larger than a Government 1911.
The grip safety is smaller than the typical 1911. The extended thumb safety was low profile, yet allowed for fast manipulation.
