The Coonan is a large and well-made handgun. Although based on the 1911, the Coonan is unique. The slide-lock lever, slide-lock safety, and grip safety are typical 1911 treatments.
Slide-to-barrel and bushing fit are excellent. This made for good accuracy. A bold front-post sight also helped.
The Coonan (in back) is this much longer than the Government Model 1911.
The stainless-steel Coonan magazine is well made and robust. The same could be said for the rest of the gun as well.
