Most polymer pistols are wide-body high-capacity models. But working from a single-column magazine allowed for a flatter grip that helped the shooter point the USP45CT quickly. Mounting the ambidextrous magazine release paddle outside the receiver helped keep the grip smaller from front to back.
The Heckler & Koch USP45 Compact Tactical differed from the standard model primarily with the addition of a longer barrel that featured a rubber O-ring for enhanced lockup and threads for mounting a suppressor. The single-action trigger was also more refined.
