The EMF had been antiqued by dipping it in acid, which removedall the finish and left what you see. This looks great, and results inan eye-catching gun, but there may be incipient rust present, andthe bore will be damaged. And all this costs extra.

The Dragoons are hand-filling, heavy revolvers with a lot of power. Recoil is not much, thanks to 4 pounds of gun. Sights are primitive, but the guns have the potential for extreme accuracy, though this EMF failed in that respect, despite a 2-pound trigger. We trace some of the accuracy problems to the acid-dip process used to age the gun. Our question: Why age the bore as well as the exterior?
