German K98 8mm Mauser, SLG-K98 SB

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

There were several items absent from this offering that made uswonder, such as a sling, cleaning rod, correct bolt for the stock, etc., but German-made M98s are now not common, so if you wantone, this may be the best way to get it. SOG may not have anymore of these by our press time. This one was flawed and had togo back.

The German 98 had a badly oil-blotched stock, but the wood was sound. Note the Mod 98 on the action in front of the thumb notch.
The arrows point to a cutout in the stock intended to give clearance for a turned-down bolt, which this action did not have; and the cut-down front ring, which makes this dot action unsuitable for alteration into a fine sporter unless lots of work is done.
This is what gave us shivers when we cleared out the grease. Weve never seen a bore so badly bent. This was not obvious on the outside.
