Like most .45 ACPs, this compact pistol's grip was too big for shooters with small hands. However, the grip was long enough to provide a secure grasp and good control.

Our H&K USP45 Compact was a Variant 1, which had a decocking safety lever on the left rear of the frame. It was intended for right-handed shooters only.
Field stripping this Heckler & Koch is straightforward. After removing the magazine and unloading the chamber, cock the hammer. Pull the slide to the rear until the notch in its left side aligns with axis of the slide catch lever. Holding the slide in this position, remove the slide catch from right to left. Allow the slide assembly to move forward and off the front of the frame. Remove the captive recoil assembly from the slide, then remove the barrel. Reverse these steps to reassemble.
