For about the same money, we’d have to go with the Winchester. Though very similar in size and dimensions, the Daly didn’t handle or operate as smoothly, we thought.

Although the lock-up was solid, the action was a little stiff and caused some minor malfunctions during our field tests. Perhaps a little more use would cause the Charles Daly to open and close a little easier.
There were no problems in moving the shotgun through targets with its larger forearm, which we felt was just a little bulky for a short-barrel.
While an automatic safety is good for field work, if the shooter is planning to spend much time on the clays course, we would recommend a little gunsmith work to eliminate the feature.
