Gun Report

Taurus PT 24/7 PRO 9mm

Read Gun Tests Rating and Recommendation

This was an endearing handgun. We much preferred the grip of the CZ, but the 24/7ís was pretty comfortable. The Taurus also had a hook on the front of the trigger guard and a curve that permitted a high grasp on the gun. The underlug will be handy for those who want a light attached to the gun. The magazine button was a little harder to work than that of the CZ, but the magazines fell right out. This gun was well made. The top-heaviness went away with a fully loaded (13 ounce) magazine.

The safety lever of the Taurus was way too small, and too far to the rear of the slide. We could not get to it with our strong-hand thumb no matter how hard we tried.
Other hands might not have trouble, but we rejected the gun because we could not get to the safety with our strong-hand thumb. Once the safety was off the gun worked very well in rapid fire.
The rear of the barrel was blocky and shiny, though it looks dull here. The ramp was mirror polished, which probably helped the gunís reliability.
